The Bank of Mauritius together with a number of banks operating in Mauritius sponsored the tenth edition of the Inter Club Youth Championships. The event was organised in collaboration with the Mauritius Athletic Association on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 November 2016 at Maryse Justin Stadium, Réduit.
This year, around 1000 athletes participated in the championships from clubs in Mauritius and Rodrigues. Fifteen best athletes from Rodrigues, selected following preliminaries held in Rodrigues on Saturday 12 November 2016, participated in the two-day event in Mauritius.
The following national records were established this year:
- 60m Hurdles Benjamin -boys in 9.22s established by Loic FINE of ST Remy.
- 60m Hurdles Benjamin - Girl in 10.39s established by Kimberley KISTNAH of Boulet Rouge AC.
- Relay 4 X100m Minim –Boys in 44.46s established by a team comprising Jean Laurent Ryan LOCHOO, Alexandre YANGOUA, Julien FRANCOIS and Denzel DESVEAUX of R. Hill AC.
- Discus Benjamin Boy-44m96, established by Mathew Jordane QUIRIN of ST Remy AC.
