Members of the public are hereby informed that a consignment of one-Rupee coins is expected in Mauritius on 16 December 2008 to meet the heavy demand for such coins at this time of the year.
An order for the consignment of one-Rupee coins was placed on 30 October 2008.
In the meantime, the existing stock of one-Rupee coins will be used to accommodate the market demand for those coins.
The Bank appeals to the civic responsibility of citizens not to hoard one-Rupee coins but to put them back in circulation.
