It has come to the attention of the Bank of Mauritius that certain individuals or corporates are attempting to present fake or suspicious guarantees, sovereign guarantees, letters of comfort, letters of standing from banks, confirmations of payment or other financial instruments, with the objective of securing credit facilities or contracts.
The matter has been referred to the relevant authorities for investigation.
Members of the public and financial institutions are hereby advised to exercise caution when presented with such documents and to take necessary steps to ascertain their authenticity. In case of doubt, members of the public should contact the alleged issuer of the document or report the matter to the relevant authorities.
