The Bank of Mauritius (Bank) has taken cognizance of an article published on an Indian online news platform wherein it is, inter alia, stated that the Bank of Mauritius is purportedly ‘understood to have a secondary exposure’ to the Punjab National Bank, which has been hit by a massive fraud.
The Bank wishes to clarify that it does not have any link or exposure whatsoever with the Punjab National Bank and that it has requested the online news platform hosted in India to amend its article accordingly.
The Bank is closely monitoring the matter and will take such action as may be warranted regarding any exposures of domestic banks to the Punjab National Bank.
