The Governor of the Bank of Mauritius, Mr Rameswurlall Basant Roi, G.C.S.K., has been invited by the Chair, International Council, and co-Chairs, one of whom is the former President of the World Bank, Mr James Wolfensohn, to be a member of the Bretton Woods Committee.
“Selected by invitation only, Committee members are leaders at the top of the business and academic …. sectors, including industry CEOs, international policy makers, former US officials ….” The Committee brings together members “to explore current issues in global finance, development, and trade; to help direct the attention of the international financial institutions towards important initiatives and reforms…. Given your leadership in these areas, we believe you will be a valuable addition to the Committee.”
Honorary co-Chairs have been past Presidents of the United States and Chairs have been past Chairpersons of the Federal Reserve System and top academics and CEOs. Members include Governors of central banks, senior executives of global financial institutions and leading world thinkers.
Mr Rameswurlall Basant Roi, G.C.S.K., has gladly accepted to be member of the Committee. Asked about what the membership means to him, he said, “I view this invitation as a recognition of the Bank of Mauritius standing in the international financial system.”
